Dislocations and Immunizations: HUH?!?

Normally, I post the upcoming week on Saturday but I had a wee issue with a shoulder dislocation yesterday and was in a slight drug haze after the fine ER doctor put said shoulder into place.

I don't know... I think since there's a lot of writers that follow this blog, I should do a book/gift card give-away for whoever leaves the best reason for the cause of the shoulder dislocation. Best comment wins and I'll decide next Saturday. Who's in to win!!

Plus, I'm loving Tim Tebow's winning streak and this is another cause to celebrate.

This week, since I'm already injured, I thought I'd tip my toes into a hot lava on controversy. The myths that surround immunizations. I know this is dangerous territory as both sides of the issue have passionate people that think they have the right opinion. I'm giving the medical perspective which I feel gets muted in the news by other activists.

I'm interested in comments... just keep it clean and respectful and it will stay up. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and concerns.

Have a great week!!

  1. Reason 1 for a dislocation: You got tired of your arm and tried to throw it away.

Reason 2 for a dislocation: research for a novel. Your character dislocated the arm and you identified with her.

Reason 3: ALzheimer's onset. You forgot where you left it.

And immunizations can be scary, but measles, mumps, smallpox, diptheria pose a great risk.

    Sorry about your arm.

  2. Sorry to hear that the head of your humerus strayed from its home in the glenoid fossa. Obviously it happened as you tried to intercept the last drumstick being tossed to Uncle Frank at the other end of the table.

    Seriously, feel better soon.

  3. Carol and Richard--- those are awesome. Might be a tough decision!! I love Carol's variety but appreciate the medical terminology of the fine Dr. Mabry.

    Stay posted....

  4. You did an "endo" over the handlebars on your bike when you stopped short to let the turkey cross the road.
Or... maybe one or the other of your parents tried to pick you up by your arms (I hate it when that happens).
So sorry about your dislocation. Hope things heal up quickly!

  5. So sorry for the relocated...whatever Richard said.

If it was like my brother's dislocation, someone (who had no clue what they were doing) was trying to teach you judo.

  6. Lorrie-- thanks for the addition and welcome to my blog! I'm glad you're enjoying it and nice injury thoughts though I'm not sure my pediatric patient's could pick me up.

Sandra--- love that. I was a little shocked at how many non-medical people at the gym offered to put my shoulder back into place. I'm sorry, but I prefer drugs for super-painful things. I am a whimp and will admit it openly.
